ABOUT MARCUS

My journey into the healing arts began more than thirty years ago when I first experienced the profound power of touch while giving a massage to a friend undergoing cancer treatment. Witnessing how massage brought her comfort and relief planted a seed that would eventually shape my career and life’s purpose.

Before fully transitioning into the healing arts, I spent time acting and was an active member of a theater community in Pittsburgh, PA—a truly transformative chapter in my life. That experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for presence, storytelling, and the power of connection, all of which continue to inspire my work. My studies in art and drama therapy expanded my understanding of the relationship between creative expression and healing.

After several years working in public relations for a national magazine, I found myself seeking a path more aligned with my values—one rooted in care, healing, and community. In 2005, I attended the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, New York, earning my certification and license. That training was life-changing, igniting a passion for mind-body healing that remains at the core of my work.

Yoga and mindfulness have been guiding practices in my life for decades. After 14 years of personal practice, I immersed myself in formal study at Laughing Lotus Yoga College in San Francisco, completing my 200-hour teacher training in 2008. Two years later, I deepened my knowledge with a second 200-hour certification at Prajna Yoga with Tias Little in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My yoga classes blend mindful alignment, breathwork, and playful movement—offering a moving meditation that cultivates strength, balance, and ease.

In my work, I incorporate principles of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), offering students practical tools to cultivate presence, reduce stress, and enhance well-being. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of leading yoga retreats across the globe, including in India, Turkey, Italy, Vermont, and upstate New York, among other inspiring locations.

Today, I offer small group yoga and meditation classes, private instruction, and therapeutic massage sessions in Brooklyn and Manhattan. My work continues to evolve, shaped by years of practice, study, and meaningful connections. Whether it’s on the mat, the cushion, or the massage table, my goal is to create a space for grounding, healing, and joy.
